What is Endodontic Treatment?

Endodontics is a unique branch of dentistry that deals specifically with the treatment of the pulp and tissue surrounding the roots inside your teeth. This includes prevention, diagnosis and management of diseases that can be caused by infected or damaged pulp.

Endodontic treatment, also known as root canal, is a procedure we specialise in here at The Dental Abode. It involves the careful removal of infected or damaged pulp to heal and save the inside of your teeth, so you can hold on dearly to your natural smile.

Our endodontic specialist’s main priority is preserving your natural teeth and will only resort to extraction as an extreme last resort. Using only the latest state-of-the-art technology and techniques, our endodontists have all the tools they need at their fingertips to help save your teeth and maintain your smile.

If you have a tooth that is infected or damaged, we strongly recommend you seek endodontic treatment as soon as possible to save the tooth and prevent further problems down the line. Get in touch with us now and we’ll organise a consultation at your earliest convenience.

The Dental Abode’s Approach

At the start of your endodontic treatment, we’ll hold a consultation in our Chelmsford clinic. Here x-rays will be taken and assessed to create a treatment plan tailored to your unique circumstances. For more nervous patients, we can happily facilitate by providing different types of pre-medications and anaesthetics.

During the root canal procedure, we fully numb the area around the problematic tooth. The canals are then prepared by creating a small hole in the tooth that allows us to clean and remove all the afflicted tissue from inside. Once this is done, we use a long-lasting sealer to ensure the tooth is securely sealed and to stop bacteria from contaminating the root canal once more. And finally, we send you on your way home with a bespoke post-treatment plan and a healthy maintained smile.
