What is Root Canal?
Root canal is a specialised dental procedure used to repair and save infected, heavily decayed, or damaged teeth. At The Dental Abode, all our root canal treatments are performed by our resident dental surgeons and endodontists, who are specialists when it comes treating the inside of teeth.
But don’t worry – the procedure itself isn’t as invasive as it sounds. It involves making a small hole in the tooth, removing the infected or damaged tissue from inside, cleaning the area, and then finally filling and sealing the tooth.
Our expert endodontists are on-hand to guide you through the treatment and what you can expect. We understand the anxiety surrounding root canal, which is why we offer individual solutions for nervous patients where we can arrange oral or intravenous sedation.

The Dental Abode’s Approach
As an established dental surgery with over 40 years’ experience, we understand the importance of immediate and effective root canal treatment. So, to get things started, we’ll invite you to our Chelmsford clinic for an initial consultation to assess and diagnose your situation. We’ll then discuss a treatment plan that works for you.
The time required for root canal treatment will always depend on the complexity of the procedure. As an estimate, it can take roughly one to two hours. Re-treatment, on the other hand, can sometimes be longer. Our highly experienced root canal treatment team will be on hand to answer any and all questions, including how to help with post-procedure discomfort.
